Atkinson County Citizen - December 8, 2005
 Cora Jowers Floyd, 82, of Willacoochee, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at Tift 
Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. 

 Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church 
with the Rev. Jackie Connell, the Rev. Bobby Fussell and the Rev. Kevin Stone 
officiating. Musical selections included "Just A Little Talk With Jesus" 
and "Lord, Listen to your Children Praying," by the Willacoochee Senior 
Citizens group, accompanied by Bonnie Kumberger, pianist, and "Beulah Land" by 
soloist, Derrick Soles. The prelude and postlude were provided by Bonnie 
Kumberger, pianist.

 The interment will follow in Willacoochee City Cemetery. Mrs. Floyd will be 
placed in the church at 1 p.m. today to lie in state until the funeral hour. 

 A native of Atkinson County, Mrs. Floyd was born July 4, 1923, daughter of 
Elisha and Maude Penn Jowers. She was a retired seamstress and a volunteer for 
the Willacoochee Senior Citizen Center for many years. Mrs. Floyd was a member 
of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her 
husband, Rev. Jeff Floyd. 

  Survivors include four sons, Julian Floyd and wife Evon of Pearson, Russell 
Floyd and wife Judy of Sycamore, Glenn Floyd and wife Connie of Sylvester, and 
Ronnie Floyd and wife Donna of Willacoochee; two daughters, Elaine Akins and 
husband David of Nashville and Debbie Harrell and husband Lewis of Axson; a 
brother, Ralph Jowers of Lake Placid, Fla.; a sister, Grace Fussell of 
Waycross; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and 
nephews. 

 In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to be sent to Gideons  
International or The Willacoochee Senior Citizens Center. 

 Active pallbearers were grandchildren, Tom McDonald, Kevin McDonald, Jeffery 
Harrell, Jeremy Harrell, Daniel McMillan and John Szymanski.
