Atkinson County Citizen - April 5, 2007
  Mr. Lafayette James Edge, age 60, of Pearson, GA passed away late Saturday 
evening, April 1, 2007 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended 
illness.
 A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Edge was born May 5, 1946, son of Rayford 
Edge and Stella Balance Bennett. He was a retired truck driver and served for 
many years in area churches as a Lay Speaker. He was a member of Cornerstone 
Church in Pearson, GA.
 Survivors include his wife, Barbara Spikes Edge of Pearson, GA; sons, John 
Edge and wife Megan of Pearson, GA and Jamie Edge of Pearson, GA; 5 brothers, 
Johnny Edge and wife Doris of Nashville, GA, Gene Edge and wife Tricia of 
Pearson, GA, Bobby Edge of Pearson, GA, Wayne Edge of Pearson, GA, Frankie 
Bennett and wife Kristi of Douglas, GA; 3 half-brothers, Levon Bennett and Pam 
of Okl. City, OK, Billy Bennett of Hope Valley, RI, Buck Bennett and wife 
Patricia of Axson, GA; half sister, Judy Naylor and husband Ralph of Hope 
Valley, RI; grandchild, Cole Edge; several nieces and nephews also survive.
 Funeral services for Mr. Edge were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, April 3, 
2007 at Ozias Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Arowood and Rev. Floyd 
Musgrove officiating. Special music selections included "Not Afraid" and "This 
Is What Heaven Means To Me" rendered by soloist, Michael Johnson on keyboard. 
Soft music for the prelude and postlude was provided by Francine Fender, 
pianist.
 The interment followed in Sunnyside Cemetery.
 Serving as active pallbearers were Larry Johnson, Jack Corbitt, David Balance, 
Jimmy Spikes, Chris McDuffie, W.M. Smith.
 Serving as honorary pallbearers were Hinky Mathews, Melvin Pruitt.
 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
