Betty Lightner Barwick
Mrs. Betty Lightner Barwick, 87 of Buena Vista, passed away at Magnolia Manor 
Thursday, January 12, 2023. Graveside services will be held in Ellaville City 
Cemetery on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 2:00PM with Rev. Michael Hammond 
officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.

Mrs. Barwick was born October 13, 1935 in Schley County to Willie Austin and 
Wilmoth Tondee Lightner. Mrs. Barwick enjoyed traveling, especially to the 
beach, gardening and taking care of her many pets. She loved a good fish fry. 
She retired as City Clerk of Buena Vista and was also employed for many years at 
Moon Motors and Wrap-It. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death 
by her husband, Lindsey, and two brothers, Lawrence Lightner and Lewis Lightner. 
She was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Christy Carcaba and her husband, Carl of Buena 
Vista, GA; a granddaughter, Kimberly DeVane and her husband Trey of Ellaville, 
GA; two grandsons, Seth Baugh and his wife Amy of Savannah, GA and Casey Carcaba 
and his wife Tonia of St. Augustine, FL; great-grandchildren, Kacey Register, 
Ethan Register, Camden Pritchard and Gage Devane; a brother, Billy Lightner and 
his wife, Alice of Ellaville, GA; two sisters, Angie McMickle of Ellaville, GA 
and Mary Nan Pilcher and her husband, Sammy of Ellaville, GA; and three sisters-
in-law, June Lightner, Carol Sue Devane and Elaine Barwick, all of Ellaville. 
Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.
