In Memoriam
Mrs. Narcissus Blasingame, formerly Narcissus Dent, was born April
15, 1832, was married to Mr. John Blasingame, January 8, 1852, died March
9,1898. She was buried at Antioch, where she had been a member for over 50
years, and the church assembled in conference adopted the following
resolutions on the death of Sister Narcissus Blasingame. Whereas the Supreme
Ruler of the Universe has seen fit for his own beneficent purposes to remove
from our midst our beloved sister Narcissus Blasingame: Therefore be it
resolved that in the death of Sister Narcissus Blasingame this church has
lost a valued member and the people of the community a kind neighbor and
friend. Second, that we extend our heart felt sympathy to the afflicted
husband and children in this their time of trouble. Third, that a page of
the minutes of this church be specifically set apart for the recording of
these resolutions and that they be entered thereon; also that a copy be sent
to the bereaved family and another copy be sent to the LaFayette sun for
publication. Respectfully submitted by Mrs. Caroline Hood, Mrs. Tom
Anderson, and Mrs. S. R. Wooddy, Committee.
Entry dated December 25, 1900

(NOTE: This type of entry of extremely rare in the church records and I feel
extremely fortunate that my ancestors were two of the few that were entered.
