JOHN BURKHALTER           
b. 1763           d. 1845

Served as a private in the Georgia Militia under
Colonel Elijah Clarke and fought at the Battle of
Kettle Creek. He received bounty land along
Shoulderbone Creek in Washington County for his
services. Buried:  Burkhalter Family Cemetery, near
Buena Vista.  (also known as Charles Clements place)

(Add'l notes:  m. Sarah Hardin.  Their son, David
Newsome Burkhalter b. Warren Cty. 17 Sept. 1803,
became a Methodist minister.  He sold Lot of land
No. 110 for $750 for the purpose of locating a
county site for Marion County.  This land became the
town of Buena Vista-Marion Co. History book by Rena
Cobb.)

JOSHUA BURKHALTER
b. 1763      d. 1845
Ga. Mil. Rev. War 
Served as a private in the Georgia Militia under
Colonel Elijah Clarke and fought at the Battle of
Kettle Creek. He received bounty land along
Shoulderbone Creek in Washington County for his
services.

Joshua and John, Rev. Soldiers. Graves marked by
DAR. Sons of Michael Burkhalter, Jr born in Alsace-
Loraine and 2nd wife Anna Densler, d/o Conrade
Densler m. 1750.

He also fought in Bettle of Kettle Creek.

CLEMENT CLEMENTS        
b. 1764         d. 11/11/1851

Volunteered in 1781 as a private under Captain Peter
DuBose. They marched to the Santee River, where for
12 months he was under the command of General
Francis Marion of the South Carolina Troops. His
detachment fought in several skirmishes at Waterloo
(near Monk's Corner), Port Ferry, Four Holes and at
Hadrell's Point.

JOHN MAYO    
b. 1759    d.

Enlisted for 6 months and served as a private in the
North Carolina Troops from Edgecombe County. He
later received a pension for his services as a
resident of Marion County.

Living with his son Axum at the time of his death,
and the Roanoke Chaper of the D.A.R. erected a
Revolutionary War Marker at his grave.
