The Messrs. Ryder, brothers of Dr. W. L. Ryder who was lynched, in cards printed
in the Columbus Enquirer-Sun, accuse Judge Butt, Solicitor Gilbert and all
lawyers for the prosecution with conspiracy in the ignominious death of their
brother by lynching. The Ryders were in no condition to write sanely on the
subject, and they should have kept out of the papers, as the people will not
believe their accusations. We have no doubt Judge Butt was trying to hasten the
trial to prevent the very thing he is accused of conspiracy with the lynching.
