He Makes Money

Jim Gordan, colored, wants us to let the people know what he is doing farming,
and we give the following result from a two-horse farm last year:

525 bushels corn
12 bales cotton, averaging over 500 pounds
182 gallons syrup
4,000 bundles fodder

Plenty meat, potatoes, peas, peanuts, etc., for home use and some to sell. In
addition to this he has two cows with young calves for sale. He owes no man
anything and always has a pocket full of cash.

Jim is about sixty years old, and rode on a railroad train the first time last
week.
