“Go Right in Mr. Dunham”

A funny thing happened at Dr. McLaughlin’s last Sunday morning. Joe Dunham
spent the night there, and early next morning he and the Doctor’s little son,
Frank, who is about five years of age, went down to the pond to take a bath.
Joe, who could not swim a lick, tipped the beam at 225 pounds, while Frank, who
could swim like a duck, does not weigh over 50 pounds. Joe was a little timid
about breaking the water, and Frank consoled him with the following remark: “Go
right in, Mr. Dunham. Don’t be afraid – I’m here.”

Additional Comments:
Transcribers Note: Dr. Leander Francis "Frank" McLaughlin, was a dentist who
lived in Marion County for a number of years. He was the brother of my great-
great-great grandmother, Susannah McLaughlin Fielder.
