Marion County Sheriff Saves Negro From Would Be Lynchers

Sheriff Chapman and Deputy Sheriff Bell, of Marion County undoubtedly saved the
neck of Daniel Rushin, a Buena Vista negro, who Judge Lynch was preparing to
try Thursday night before his tribunal. Rushin, who is partially demented,
roughly treated a little girl in Buena Vista. The alleged act incensed many
citizens and Sheriff Chapman was warned that an attempt would be made to storm
the jail and lynch Rushin. Putting the prisoner in his automobile Sheriff
Chapman rushed him to Americus for safekeeping.
