Former Schley County
   Sheriff Fined for Fighting

   Americus, June 7 - W. W. Lump-
kin, former sheriff os Schley county,
but now living in Marion,  just over
the line, was  fined  in  Recorder's
court  here  Monday  morning  on  a
charge of fighting.  The trouble took
place in a  Cotton  avenue store and
drink stand Saturday evening. Lump-
kin was present when loud talking
was reported going on.  Jay Hallman,
a helper, attempted to put him out
and the fight ensued.  Hallman was
discharged by the Recorder.

       Another Freak Egg Found
   
      Americus, June 7, --   An egg
bearing  the  inscription,  "Beware
June 24th", and the dates  4th  was
found in a nest in his hen house Sun-
day  about noon by  S.  H.  Timmerman,
postmaster of Plains, near here. The
egg  was  warm  and  had  just  been
laid,he said. The letters were as per-
fect  and  plain  as  though  printed.
    The egg is white and the letters in
deep  brown, neither  raised  nor  de-
pressed, the surface of the egg being
smooth.   The  find  created  great
excitement in  Plains  and  here  where
it was shown Monday.
