WAR RECORDS TO BE PRESERVED

The Marion County Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy
has decided to compile a roster containing the names of all
soldiers, white or colored, enlisted in the World's War. This
roster, handsomely bound book, will be presented to the Marion
county courthouse, as a permanent reeord for the use of future
generations. The U. D C. fully appreciates the need of a work of
this kind, as data concerning confederate veterans is very hard
to obtain, because there was no record kept at that time.

If you have a boy in the service won't you see that his name is
enrolled in this book?

We ask that the enlisted men or nearest relation of same send

THE FLU

When your back is broke and your eyes are blurred,
And your shin bones knock, and your tongue is furred,
And your tonsils squeak, and your hair gets dry,
And you’re dog-gone sure you are going to die,
And your're skeered you wait, and and afraid you will,
Just drag to bed and have your chill,
And pray the Lord to help you thru,
For you’ve got the flu, boy you’ve got the flu.

When your toes curl up, and your belt goes fiat,
And you are twice as mean as a Thomas Cat,
And life is a long and dismal curse,
And your feed tastes like a hard boiled hearse,
And your lattice aches, and your head's a buzz,
And nothing is as it ever wuz,
Here are my sad regrets to you,
You’ve got the flu, boy, you’ve got the flu,

What is it like, this Spanish flu?
Ask me, Brother, l've seen it thru,
It is misery out of dispair
It pulls your teeth and curls your hair
It thins your bleed and flays your bones,
And fills your craw with moans and groans.
And some times, maybe, you get well,

Some call it flu—
I call it h--l.
