Major G.W. Cook left Tuesday morning for Hot Springs, Ark., where he will take
treatment to regain his health. It will be remembered that Mr. Cook some weeks
ago was partially paralyzed, and it is hoped that a few weeks at Hot Springs
will restore his usual health.

Dr. M.D. Hollis spent Monday in Columbus. He has received his commission and
transportation from the government and will leave Saturday for Washington.
From Washington he will go to San Francisco, Cal., and from there he goes to
Hong Kong. The best wishes of many friends will follow him to his new field of
labor. His family family will join him later on.

A mass meeting will be held at the courthouse in Buena Vista, Saturday, March
8th, to discuss the coming bond election. Hon. E.H. McMichael, who will speak
for bonds, has challenged Col. W.B. Short, the leader of the opposition, to
debate, and if Mr. Short accepts, those present will hear something interesting.
