He was born on September 28, 1929, in Monroe, GA, the son of the late Hampton and Emma Brooks. A service will be held at 4:00pm on Monday, July 10, 2017, at the Buena Vista United Methodist Church with Pastor Bud Rupel and Pastor Watson McKemie officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be George Cecil Woodruff IV, Walter Weyman “Tripp” Brooks, III, Grant Loudermilk, Bradley Kayan Brooks Sonny Perdue, Jack Brinkley, Bill Johnson, Jo Slade Johnson, Davis Geekie, David Huff, Milton Jones, Albert Oliver, Art Osborne, Jack Daniel, Charles Rinn, Joe C. Slade, Sonny Galbreath, Sandy Swan, Pastor Patrick Reeves and Bobby Porch. The family will receive friends at their former home in Buena Vista, The Sign of The Dove on Church Street for a reception immediately following the service. Everyone is cordially invited. Weyman graduated from the Henry Grady School of Journalism at University of Georgia. In 1951, he was drafted into the army and served his country broadcasting the news all over the world during the Korean War from Hollywood, CA. He began his radio and TV career in LaGrange, GA as a news and sports reporter, a DJ, and hosted a daily talk show at the WTRP radio station. In 1957, he moved to Columbus, GA, as a News Director and Sales Representative at Channel 9 TV, Sales Representative at Channel 3, and Sales Representative at WRCG Radio Station. He covered and delivered the news and special events, wrote and did commercials, worked at telethons and was master of ceremonies at various functions for McClure Broadcasting in Columbus. He was a member of The Columbus Advertising Club, an officer in the Muscogee Lions Club, a Boy Scout Leader, an avid “Bull Dog” and “Braves” fan, loved tennis, flowers, and most of all his church and family. Weyman was a member of the Solid Rock Assembly of God Church and formally of St. Luke Methodist Church, serving as a Board Member and Sunday School President, and at Evangel Temple where he had the honor of narrating many plays. His favorite verse was from Proverbs 11:25, “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.” He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Josephine Brooks; two sons and wives, Walter Weyman and Lisa Brooks, Jr., Bradley Stevens and Elizabeth Brooks; one daughter, Debra Brooks Woodruff; four grandsons, George Cecil Woodruff IV, Walter Weyman “Tripp” Brooks, III, Grant Loudermilk, and Bradley Kayan Brooks; two granddaughters, Brooks Woodruff Edwards and husband Christopher O’Neil Edwards and Lucy Kayan Brooks; one great-granddaughter, Madelyn Brooks Moore and one great-grandson, Lincoln Hollar Edwards; one brother-in-law, Dr. McLowery Elrod, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Solid Rock Assembly of God Church, P. O.
