Marvin Dean Black, 68, of Cusseta, Georgia, died November 21, 2009, at 
Columbus Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service with full military honors was held Friday, November 27, 
2009, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Tante Funeral Home in Buena Vista, Georgia. 
A private burial will be held at a later date.

Mr. Black was born in Asland, Kansas, on August 14, 1941, to Gerald and 
Aileene Lamunyon Black.  He was in the United States Army where he was a 
member of the Honor Guard and had the privilege to march in President 
Kennedy’s Inauguration Parade. He served two tours in Vietnam. He was in the 
U. S. Army Marksmanship Unit where he participated in the Panamerican Games. 
He won a gold medal there as well as set world records. He was a member of the 
President’s Hundred. In 1982, he retired from the Army and settled in Cusseta, 
Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Jackson Black of Centerville, GA; two 
daughters, Kristi Leigh Peel & Ed of Cordova, TN, and Karla Lynn Glisson of 
Centerville, GA; by a brother, Stanley Black of Woodard, OK; and by five 
grandchildren, Jackson Peel, Hayden Peel, Carys Peel, Garett Nelson, and 
Karleigh Glisson.

Tante Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
