William Lawrence Bickerstaff, Sr., 84, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at St. 
Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 26, 2013, at Buena 
Vista United Methodist Church with Reverend Linda Gail Thompson and Reverend 
Owen Williams officiating. Burial will be at Buena Vista Cemetery. Serving as 
Honorary Pallbearers will be Brady Humber, Buck Smoot, John Daniel, Rev. Owen 
Williams, Burt "Mac" Bickerstaff, Jefferson Bickerstaff, and Ben Moore. The 
family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7pm on Thursday, April 
25, 2013.
 
Mr. Bickerstaff was born January 13, 1929, in Hatchechubbee, AL, to Jett McCoy 
and Anna George Pitts Bickerstaff. Methodist by faith, he was a member of 
Buena Vista United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men and its Board of 
Trustees for many years. Additionally, he was a member of the Lion’s Club. Mr. 
Bickerstaff owned and operated Bickerstaff Chevrolet in Buena Vista for over 
25 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, 
Annelle Greene Bickerstaff and a brother, Burt McCoy Bickerstaff.
 
He is survived by a son, William Lawrence Bickerstaff, Jr. of Buena Vista, 
Georgia; by three daughters, Annelle Forester Head and husband Jim of Luverne, 
Alabama, Mary Forester Tondee and husband Terry of Buena Vista, Georgia and 
Betty Bickerstaff Perno and husband Lou of Athens, Georgia; and by five 
grandchildren, Josh Forester Head, Steven Greene Tondee and wife Mary Allen, 
Catherine Merritt Tondee, Kinley Christian Perno, and Collier McCoy Perno.
 
Watson-Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia, was in charge of these 
arrangements.
