She had been confined to her bed three weeks. At the time of her death she was 46 years two months and 10 days old. Before her marriage to Mr. H.C. Benford about 19 years ago, she was Miss Sallie Mitchell, youngest daughter of Uncle Johnnie Mitchell as he was known, of Marion County. Besides her bereaved husband she leaves a sister, Mrs. W.P. McCorkle and three brothers, L.J. and H.S. Mitchell, of Blueville, Ga., and J.W. Mitchell, of Mauk, Ga., other relatives and a host of friends to mourn the loss of a loved one. Although we know our loss is her eternal gain, we cannot help but shed tears of sorrow. She called her dear companion to her bedside before she died and talked freely. She told him she saw her way clear that she hated to leave him but she must go but they would not be separated long that he would soon follow her, then they would be together again forever. She seemed perfectly willing to go and that is so consoling to her broken hearted husband and bereaved relatives. She was a devoted wife, ever ready to bear her part of the hardships of life as much as to enjoy the pleasures. She never joined any church but her faith and service were with the Primitive Baptist and had been since her girlhood. She wanted a home with them but felt she was not good enough and that she might be mistaken though she was just as faithful as those that had discharged their duty in going to the church. So loved ones don’t weep for her as for those that did not have that sweet hope of Jesus Christ. We know she is at rest and may the Lord help us to live the life she lived that we may meet here where there will be no more parting. All that faithful physician and kind friends did was to no avail though we know all was done that could be and we feel so grateful to them all. The funeral services were conducted by Elder T.D. Roberts after which her remains were laid to rest in Bloodworth cemetery to await the resurrection morn. Written by Mrs. J.M. Guy Manchester, Ga. ---------------------- Card of Thanks I take this method of thanking my kind neighbors and friends for their kindness to me and to my dear companion in her last illness and in my sadness in parting with a precious companion and especially to Mrs. Jane Burnett and Mrs. Mamie Guy for their kindness and to Drs. J.W. Cook and J.L. Morris for their faithful service and such deeds of kindness will ever be remembered and hope that I may hold the same friendship and respect. H.C.
