Fannie Powell Benford
Mrs. Fannie Powell Benford, 77, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Saturday, 
March 12, 2022, at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center.  Graveside funeral services 
will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Union United Methodist 
Church Cemetery with Rev. David Chapman officiating. 
 

Mrs. Benford was born in Buena Vista, GA, on February 11, 1945, to Arthur “Shim” 
and Nannie Mae Wells Powell.  She was a member of Union United Methodist Church 
and enjoyed attending the Sunday school class and reading her bible.  Mrs. 
Benford was a wonderful homemaker and cook. In her spare time she watched Joyce 
Meyer and the Food Network channel.  She loved keeping her grandchildren and 
great-grandchildren and spending time with them.  After her retirement from 
Hagler’s Grocery, she volunteered with Share the Season in Buena Vista.  In 
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-
law, Thelma and Don Bunch.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Tony T. Benford of Buena Vista, GA; 
two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Chris Benford of Pinehurst, GA, and 
David and Catherine Benford of Ellaville, GA; a daughter and son-in-law, Denise 
and Eric Studdard of Buena Vista, GA; a brother, Arthur Powell and Sherrill 
Humber of Buena Vista, GA; two sisters, Martha and Charles Austin of Buena 
Vista, GA, and Darlene and Clay Allen of Columbus, GA; six grandchildren, seven 
great-grandchildren and her beloved dog, Laci Benford.  Several nieces and 
nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research 
Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or a charity of your choice.

Way-Watson Funeral Home, 1052 Dr. Deryl Hart Road, Buena Vista, Georgia has been 
entrusted with these arrangements.
