Sara Isom Anthony
Mrs. Sara Ann Isom Anthony, 79, of Mauk, GA, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 
2022, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be held at 
2:00PM on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at New Life Freewill Baptist Church with 
Rev. Jimmy Stubbs and Rev. Brian Fuller officiating.  Burial will follow the 
service at Pine Level Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, March 
29, 2022, from 6:00-8:00PM at the funeral home.  Serving as active pallbearers 
will be J. W. Isom, Chad Stephens, Josh Moxley, Kyle Welch, Jason Frost and 
Jason Lawhorn. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Grimsley, Guy Grimsley, 
Chris Isom and Dennis Sivell. 

Mrs. Anthony was born in Marion County, GA, on November 21, 1942, to Lester and 
Lila Duncan Isom.  She enjoyed sewing and was a seamstress at Playtex for ten 
years in Manchester before becoming a homemaker. She was a song leader at New 
Life Freewill Baptist Church as well as the Treasurer for many years.  Mrs. 
Anthony loved her family and taking care of her grandchildren.  She enjoyed 
watching “Hee-Haw” and “The Grand Ole Opry.”  In addition to her parents, she 
was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Anthony, a daughter, Lila Angela 
Anthony and her siblings, Evelyn Watson, Preston Isom, Beatrice Grimsley, L. T. 
Isom, Junior Isom, and Jeannette Sivell. 

She is survived by two children, Rhonda Montgomery and her husband, Hank of 
Mauk, and Mark Anthony and his wife, Kristi of Mauk;  five grandchildren, Meagan 
Andes (Josh), Mia Hortman (Bradley), Maci Hess (Casey), Kamryn Anthony and Kolby 
Anthony; great-grandchildren, Collin Andes, Cale Andes, Brandt Andes, Briar 
Andes, Cas Hortman, Kyler Hess, Coda Hortman, and Leyton Hess; by a brother, 
Jimmy Isom (Janice) of Mauk, GA; by two sisters, Bobbie Jean Sivell of Pine 
Mountain, GA, and Judy Kirby (Roger) of LaGrange, GA; and by numerous nieces and 
nephews. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, PO 
Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
