Jacob Isaac Black

COLQUITT — Jacob Isaac Black, 84, of Hoover, AL, formerly of Colquitt, GA, died 
Saturday, January 4, 2003, at the University of Alabama in Birmingham Hospital.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Colquitt City 
Cemetery with military honors. The Rev. Jerry McArthur will officiate.

Mr. Black was born November 24, 1918, in Miller County. He retired from Flowers 
Baking Company after 36 years of service. Mr. Black held many positions 
including the Board of Directors and plant president of the Opelika Alabama 
Bakery and plant president in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He served in the United 
States Navy during WW II.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Black of Hoover, AL; one son, David Black of 
Dadeville, AL; one daughter, Susan Black Trankina of Birmingham, AL; three 
grandchildren, Elizabeth Greene, Mark Trankina and Kate Trankina; one great-
granddaughter, Abigail Black Greene; one brother, Noah Black of Colquitt; two 
sisters, Katherine Black of Colquitt and Lillian Williams of Cordele.

Visitation will be 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart 
Association or Habitat for Humanity.
