Obituary  -  MARGARET AKRIDGE

  Margaret Akridge, 57, of Sylvester, died Monday, Sept. 8, at her residence.
  Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Banks Funeral Chapel with 
the Rev. Elbert Osteen and Mr. Cedric Solomon officiating.  Burial will be in 
the Cool Springs Cemetery in Mitchell County.
  Born Oct 30, 1939, in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Carl 
Akridge and the late Nora Kelley Akridge.  She had lived in Sylvester for the 
last 17 years after moving from Albany.  She retired in 1996 after teaching 27 
1/2  years.  At Moultrie and Albany Tech she was an eructation representative 
for IBM for three years.  She retired as director of counseling at Dougherty 
County High School.  A member of Georgia School Counselors Association she was 
recently recognized as an outstanding counselor in Georgia.  She was a member 
of Etta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Sorority of Women 
in Education.  She was a former member of Sale City Baptist Church.
  Survivors include a son,. Samuel Kelley Akridge Toumey and wife Toni Ann, 
Albany; two sisters, Hazel Ester, Albany, Mabel Bass, Pelham; three brothers, 
Carroll Akridge, Harold Akridge, both of Moultrie, Robert Akridge, Hot Springs, 
Ark.; several nieces and nephews.
  Visitation will be held 7 to 8:30 tonight at Banks Funeral Home in Sylvester.
  Banks Funeral Hone is in charge of arrangement.
