Fell Dead Chasing Thief

Young Man Dies Under Peculiar Circumstances at Albany

Albany, Ga., Oct. 15 – Hershel Adams, a young white man, met death under
peculiar circumstances. Adams was employed as a clerk in A.F. Churchwell &
Co.’s store. While the place was crowded with customers Churchwell detected a
negro in the act of passing out from the door with some stolen goods in his
possession. Churchwell gave chase, being joined by Adams and another clerk.

Adams was on the sidewalk running rapidly when he was seen to fall. Thinking he
had merely stumbled his companions left him, but when the returned shortly
afterward they found him dead.

A post mortem examination showed that heart trouble was the cause.
