 Fred Littleton Belcher, 88, of Nashville died March 12, 2008 at South Georgia 
Medical Center in Valdosta.
 Born November 30, 1919 in Pelham to the late David Pearce and Pearl Atkinson 
Belcher, he was a retired attorney with Memberships in the State of Georgia and 
the Alapaha Bar Associations. He received his law degree from the University of 
Georgia in 1947 and moved to Berrien County where he practiced law for 54 
years. He was approved for practice in the Military Court of Appeals and the 
U.S. Supreme Court. During WWII, he served in the Army Air Corps as a top 
turret gunner in a B-17 bomber and spent 19 months as a prisoner of war in 
Krems, Austria. He remained in the Air Force Reserve until he retired as a Lt. 
Colonel in 1979.
 He was a member of Nashville United Methodist Church where he served in many 
leadership roles; Rotary Club, Civic Club, American Legion, Royal Arch Masons, 
a Mason in Duncan Lodge 234, Dad's Club, Band Parents' Club, Alapaha Bar 
Association and a director in the United Banking Co. He was a life member of 
the Nashville Post VFW.
 Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Smith Belcher of Nashville with whom he 
recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary; daughter and son-in-law, 
Lisa and Andy Flatt of Roswell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and 
Deborah Belcher of Columbus and David and Irene Belcher of Tucker; brother 
William Atkinson Belcher of Lilburn; six grandsons, one great-grandson.
 Funeral services were held March 15 at 2 p.m. at Nashville United Methodist 
Church with the Revs. Dwight Bishop, John Bagwell and Tom Dews officiating. One 
Accord sang "It Is Well with My Soul," and the congregation sang "Because He 
Lives" and "Amazing Grace," accompanied by Bobette Lamb.
 Interment was in Westview Cemetery.
 Active pallbearers were Justin Flatt, Wesley, Flatt, Keith Belcher, Barry 
Belcher, Larry Mobley, Jimmy Mobley.
 Honorary pallbearers were Wesley Moore, Hubert Warr, Jim Hancock, Bill 
Connell, John P. Webb, Cecil Bentley, Lane Smith, Wic Erickson, Bill Strickland.
 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
