 Dr. John Richard Bartholomew, 83, of Nashville died November 21, 2007 at his 
residence.
 Born February 18, 1924 in Lee County, Iowa, he was a retired professor of 
dentistry at the Emory University School of Dentistry. He was also a retired 
Director of Dental Health for the state of Georgia. He was a Navy veteran of 
WWII and the Korean War and a member of Nashville United Methodist Church.
 Survivors include his wife, Anne Waller Bartholomew of Nashville; two 
daughters, Sarah Bartholomew of Valdosta and Beth Olsen of Brentwood, TN; two 
step-daughters, Debbie (James) Griner and Donna (Walter) Clary of Valdosta; 
grandson, Morgan Olsen and step-granddaughter, Catherine (Stephen) Ikard of 
Mobile, AL. He was preceded in death by a son, John (Jay) Bartholomew.
 A memorial service was held November 25 at 2 p.m. at Nashville United 
Methodist Church with Rev. Dwight Bishop officiating. The congregation 
sang "How Great Thou Art," and Dan Taylor sang "Jesus Loves Me" and "Rock of 
Ages," accompanied by Renee Gaskins.
 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
