Nellie Boykin Bailey, 94, died January 7, 2013, following a brief illness.
 Born in Nashville on November 29, 1918, she was the fourth of nine children of 
the late William M. and Mary Brown Boykin. She was married to the late Thomas 
W. Bailey on November 18, 1948, who died August 2, 1980. She was predeceased by 
sisters, Jewell M. Mathis, Joyce B. Chapple, Stella B. Cox, and brothers, 
Junior Boykin and Jack D. Boykin, Jr.
 She lived a blessed life and was truly loved by many nieces and nephews. She 
lived an independent life and took care of her home. Her joys in life were 
knitting and crocheting for family members, mowing her lawn, cooking for her 
family, and playing cards with her friends. She was an active member of Tifton 
First Baptist Church.
 Survivors include three sisters, Jane B. Griner of Jasper, FL, Betty B. 
Bennett of Nashville, and Polly B. Hendrix of Evans.
 A graveside service was held at Westview Cemetery in Nashville on January 10 
at 4:30 p.m. with the Revs. Freddie Stone and Wayne Roe officiating.
 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
