MRS. G. A. BROWN, 76, passed to her reward Sunday morning, May 21st at 3:30
o'clock following an illness lasting two years or more.
Mrs. Brown had been bedridden for many months. She was tenderly cared for
by the members of the family during her illness. She was carried to a
hospital for treatment some two years ago. The family was told that nothing
could be done for her except to make her comfortable. She spent the remaining
days of her life at home and in bed.
Funeral services were held at Clarkes Creek Bapt. Church on Monday
afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Judson Jackson of Lavonia, assisted
by Rev. A. T. Cline of Toccoa, and Rev. Wyatt Gilbert of Toccoa. Burial was
in the churchyard cemetery.
Pallbearers were Messrs. Robert Sewell, Cpl. George Beasley, Joe Brown,
Lee McWhorter, Roy Wheeler and Charles Wheeler.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband and the following children: T. L.
Brown and L. A. Brown of Martin, Mrs. Carl Mize of Toccoa, Mrs. L. W. Williams
of Spartanburg, SC and Mrs. J. H. Beasley of Lavonia. Another daughter, Mrs.
M. R. Sewell passed to her reward some years ago. She is also survived by a
brother, Mr. John F. Wheeler of Martin and two sisters, Mrs. T. J. Young of
Royston and Mrs. E. E. McWhorter of Toccoa; 15 grandchildren and 3 great
grandchildren.
