John D. Kennedy, 82, Pioneer Here, Dies

Once Taken by Parents to Fort Snelling Tower to Escape Indians.

John D. Kennedy 
Age: 82
Died: Wednesday 
Son: John L. Kennedy, 387 Macalester avenue.  
Born: in a log cabin at Third (Kellog boulevard) and 
Jackson streets, on the site of the old Merchants hotel and where the 
new St. Paul Federal building now stands. 
Father: Thomas F. Kennedy, who came to St. Paul in 1847.  
5 years old: the family moved to a farm five miles out of Shakopee
8 years old: Indian uprisings (1862)his parents took shelter in the Fort 
Snelling Round Tower.  
1890: St. Paul, and then Morton, Minn
1914: back to St. Paul
Business: grocery
Son: Thomas F. Kennedy
     Alois D. Kennedy
Daughter: Miss Irene G. Kennedy, all of St. Paul.  
Funeral services: Church of the Nativity, Stanford and Prior ave.
Burial: Calvary cemetery.
