ANDREW HEDLUND, FORMER RESIDENT HERE, DIED TUES.

Buried Here Today; Lived in Lindstrom From 1902 Until 1919

Andrew Hedlund, 83 years, of St. Paul and a resident of Lindstrom

from 1902 until he moved to the city in 1919 died at his home Tusday.

He had been ill since February 29th [sic] suffering from general

infirmities of advanced age.

The remains were laid to rest at the Fairview Cemetery here following

services held in St. Paul today. Left to mourn his departure are his

wife, Mrs. Augusta Hedlund, one daughter, Mrs. F. Judkins, and two

grandchildren, Norma and Dr. Harold E. Judkins, all of St. Paul.

Mr. Hedlund was born August 4, 1853 in the village of Jessje,

Vestmonland, in Sweden. He came to this country in the year 1879 and

found employment as a steel worker in the mills of Braddock's Ferry

in Pennsylvania. He later came to St. Paul in 1882 where he became an

expert boiler maker in the St. Paul railroad shops. On August 18,

1883 he married Miss Augusta Anderson who also came to this country

in 1879. Business relations brought the couple to Plattsmouth,

Nebraska, later to Chicago, and in 1902 Mr. Hedlund retired and they

made their home for themselves and their daughter Olga in Lindstrom.

In the year 1919 they left here and moved to North St. Paul where

they have resided since at 135 Thirteenth Avenue Northeast. Last year

the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on August 19

when 100 friends of Mrs. And Mrs. Hedlund gave them honor.

The passing of Mr. Hedlund brings to his family the sympathies of

many of the elder residents here who knew him during his stay in this

village.
