SHOOTS SELF WITH RIFLE; MAY LIVE
Charles Olson of Aurora in Critical Condition
    as Result of Accidental Shooting
(Range Bureau of the News Tribune)
AURORA, April 15.--Charles Olson, for three
terms mayor of this city, was found in his bed
room this morning about 6:20 o'clock with a
bullet wound just above the heart. He was
unconscious and has remained in that condition
all day. Late this evening he was still alive
and Dr. Connors, who is attending him, says
that while his condition is critical there
is hope for his recovery.
The wound was caused by a bullet from a
rifle. He was alone at the time of the shooting,
his wife having left the room to prepare break-
fast.
At first it was thought that Mr. Olson had
attempted suicide but tonight the chief of
police said that the shooting appears to have
been accidental. The bullet entered the left
side just above the heart and emerged from the
right shoulder.
Mr. Olson is living with his second wife,
his first wife, who lives in Aitkin, Minn.,
with their children, Frank and Ellen, having
been divorced. Frank Olson started for Aurora
yesterday afternoon. When he reached Duluth
he learned that his father still lied and
decided not to continue the trip at once.
