John L. Bernard, judge of probate
of Itasca county was stricken with
apoplexy while in his office at the
court house at Grand Rapids, and died
almost immediately. His wife's reason
is unsettled by the shock. He was
formerly a very wealthy lumberman
and came from Michigan.
