Here's an obit submission for Itasca Co, MN GenWeb archives,
for Bert Anderson 2 DEC 1863 - 14 MAR 1943
He was named "Nybert" on dau. Bertha's death certificate,
was a retired police officer, had lived 38 yrs in community.

From "The Bovey Press", Bovey, MN, Fri. 19 March 1943

PIONEER REESIDENT OF BOVEY PASSED AWAY SUNDAY

Last Sunday morning Bert Anderson, a pioneer of Bovey,
passed away in the Itasca County Hospital in Grand
Rapids, after a lingering illness of the past ten years.
Bert Anderson was born December 2, 1863 in Norway. Mr.
and Mrs. Anderson were married in Bovey June 31, 1906.
Surviving are his wife, Ida; three daughters, Bertha of
Milwaukee, Wisc., Alice of Eau Claire, Wisc., and Mrs.
Lawrence Casper of Bovey; a son Harold in Berkeley, Calif.,
and an adopted son, Gus Oberg of Kannah, Idaho; one
brother, Andrew of Hudson, Wisc., and a niece, Mrs.
Herman Milke of Seattle, Wash.
Bert was the oldest citizen in point of residence in
Bovey, coming here when the streets were full of pine
stumps and mining was just being experimented with in
this section. His only business venture was in the saloon
business, of which there was nothing much but, here. He
and Ralph Whitmas were partners in this venture. Was
overseer of highway construction and maintenance in the
earlier days and served on the police force for over
eighteen years. Everyone knew Bert and he knew everyone.
When Bovey experienced its one and only "business bust"
nearly thirty years ago, Bert owned considerable village
property, but the boom suffered a relapse and for a few
years village property was rated as almost worthless.
Bert was one of the few who stuck it out until Bovey again
hit a pro-progressive stride. His residence here totalled
over 42 years.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the
Lutheran Church, Rev. Grant Olson of Grand Rapids
officiating, with interment in the Lakeview Cemetery.
