Nellie DeReus was born on November 12, 1879 to Nelis and Elizabeth (Boshuis)
DeReus at Pella, Iowa. She grew up in Pella and on March 6, 1907 was united in
marriage to Bert Olivier. They moved to a farm in the Leota, Minnesota area and
lived there until 1930 when they retired and moved into Edgerton, Minnesota.

She lived in Edgerton until 1963 and after a fall in which she sustained a
broken hip and spent three months in the hospital, then she made her home with
her daughter near Holland, Minnestoa for the next five years. Due to another
fall in 1968 she spent the remainder of her life in the Pipestone County Nursing
Unit. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Edgerton, Minnesota.

She is lovingly remembered by one daughter Margaret, Mrs. Peter Kortlever of
Holland, Minnesota; five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; two 
half-sisters, Elizabeth, Mrs. John Stek of Pella, Iowa and Barbara, Mrs. Jake
Van Dyke of Fort Worth, Texas; one half-brother, Arie DeReus of Pella, Iowa and
a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her
husband, one daughter Elizabeth in 1920, two sisters, one half-brother and three
half-sisters.

Additional Comments:
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 7, 1971 at the First Reformed
Church, Edgerton, Minnesota, Rev. William Kroon officiating. Pallbearers: Peter
Van Essen, James Westenberg, Wm. Art Olivier, Arie Olivier, Ben Grimmius and
Fred Fransen. Burial: Leota Cemetery, Leota, Minnesota.
