Barbara Wilma Haupert was born to Donald and Wilma (Ramert) Kuehl on
December 20, 1942, in Worthington, Minnesota. She was raised on the family
farm southeast of Fulda, Minnesota; and she attended the parochial school
in Fulda. After the eighth grade, she attended Fulda High School. Following
her graduation from high school in 1960, she went to business college in
Mankato, Minnesota. Upon completion of her education, she was employed
with a local business in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Two years later, she
began working at First Federal Savings and Loan in Pipestone, Minnesota.
On June 16, 1962, she was united in marriage to Larry Haupert at St.
Gabriel's Catholic Church in Fulda. Following their marriage, they resided
in Pipestone; and Barb stayed at home to raise their three children. She
then went to work for the Pipestone School District as the bookkeeper.
She continued to work there for 33 years, until retiring in the Spring of
2001. In the Spring of 1997, she was diagnosed as having lung cancer.
Even with this adversity, she continued to keep a good attitude while
dealing with cancer for five years. On Friday, April 5, 2002, Barb was
taken to the Pipestone County Medical Center where she died on Saturday,
April 6, 2002, at the age of 59 years, 3 months and 16 days.
Barb was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone where she was
active in the Catholic Church Women. Since 1977, they enjoyed their cabin
at Lake Shetek. While she was at the lake, she enjoyed relaxing by either
reading a book or catching a fish. She had many fond memories of being
with their family and friends through the years.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Larry Haupert of Pipestone,
Minnesota; two daughters, Sheryl and her husband Andy Graf of Orange,
California, and Sandra an d her husband Jay DeBoom of Phoenix, Arizona;
four grandchildren; and her mother, Wilma, Mrs. Glenn Eshleman of Fulda,
Minnesota; three sisters, Joan and husband Brent Boyd of Baton Rouge,
Louisiana, Debbie and her husband Walter Svoboda, of Jackson, Minnesota
and Mary and her husband Dan Lubben of Fulda, Minnesota and one brother,
Bob and his wife Tammy Kuehl of Fulda, Minnesota. She was preceded in
death by her son, Scott and her father, Don.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 9, at 10:30 a.m. at St.
Leo's Catholic Church in Pipestone, MN. Interment in St. Leo's Catholic
Church in Pipestone, MN.
