Lorraine Zupancich, age 78 of Ely dies





Lorraine Zupancich, age 78 of Ely died unexpectedly on March 17, 2007 in 

the Ely Bloomenson Community Hospital. She was born March 28, 1928 in 

Wisconsin the daughter of Andrew and Ida (Nystrom) Christianson. 



Lorraine was a 1946 graduate of Ely Memorial High School and attended Ely 

Junior College. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and 

active in Woman's Life serving in many capacities and currently as their 

Chaplain. For over 20 years, Lorraine was active in a women's bowling 

league with her best friends. Her greatest joy in life was her family and 

the time she spent with them at their lake home. 



On June 20, 1949 she married the great love of her life: John E. 

Zupancich. Lorraine was a devoted and much loved wife, mother, grandmother 

and great-grandmother. 



Her memory will be forever cherished by her children: Renee (Bob) Lassi, 

Patti (Jeff Dahl) Zupancich, Cindy Zupancich, Cheryl (Roger Hanson) 

Zupancich, Michelle (Al Stewart) Zupancich, and daughter-in-law: Mary 

Zupancich. 



Her special hugs and kisses were shared with her grandchildren: Mathew 

Thom, John Andrew Zupancich, Molly Zupancich, Bobbi Fenske and Cory Lassi. 

She continued to be blessed with a great grandson: Colton John and much 

anticipated great-granddaughter: Morgan.



She is also survived by sister-in-law: Margie Zupancich, special "sister" 

Zoe Planton and numerous nieces and nephews. 



She was preceded in death by her husband: Johnny, son: John Mike, and her 

parents. 



Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, March 22, 2007 in St. 

Anthony's Catholic Church. Reverend Father James Scheuer celebrated the 

Mass. 



Memorials are preferred. 



Family services provided by Kerntz Brothers, A Bauman Family Funeral Home 

in Ely.
