Julia A. (Julie) Pucel, 83, of Ely, died on Saturday, May 15, 2004, at
St. Michael’s Health and Rehab Center in Virginia. Julie was born in Ely
on Jan. 7, 1921 to John and Mary Shober Pucel. She spent most of her life
in the Ely area where she graduated from Ely Memorial High School in the
class of 1939. Julie worked for many years at her brother’s grocery store
in Ely, Joe’s IGA, until her retirement in the mid-1980s. She was a
lifetime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Julie loved to garden
and had a wonderful “green thumb.” She will be greatly missed for her love
of music, her quiet sense of humor, her laugh, and her gentle care and
concern for others.
Julie is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded
in death by her parents, her brothers Bill, John, Joseph, Fred, and Edward,
and sisters Mary, Josephine, Ann, Angela, and Rosemary.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, May 20, at St. Anthony’s
Catholic Church in Ely with Father James Scheuer officiating.
Family arrangements by Kerntz Brothers, A Bauman Family Funeral Home in Ely.
