Erick Pertulla, 90, Silver Bay, MN dies



Erick Pertulla, 90, Silver Bay, MN died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006 at the 

Minnesota Veteran's Home in Silver Bay.

  He was born June 24, 1915 to Alex and Ida (Kallo) Pertulla in Ely where 

he grew up and graduated from Ely Memorial High School. He served in the 

US Army for several years during World Way II in Europe. 

  He moved to Minneapolis and attended Dunwoody Institute, trained as a 

carpenter. He worked as a carpenter in the Ely area at the Wilderness 

Research Center on Basswood Lake and Wilderness Bay Resort on Snowbank 

Lake. He enjoyed the outdoors and helped with removal and reconstruction 

of one of Dorothy Molters's cabins on Knife Lake, later to be reassembled 

in Ely. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin on Burntside Lake. 

  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Ruth, Helga, Helmi, 

Laura and Saima.

  Erick is survived by nephews Conrad (Linda) Tikkala of Grand Marais, 

Randy and Mike Majerle; and niece Alexia (Bob) Lesar of Ely; and several 

grand nieces and nephews. A private family gathering will be held at a 

later date.
