Severin Malisheske, 94, of Ely dies



  Severin Malisheske, 94, of Ely died on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007 in 

Kaysville, UT at the Apple Tree Assisted Living Home.

  He was born on July 6, 1912, the son of Frank and Christina Malisheske 

at home in Watab Township of Benton County, MN.

  In his early years, he did construction work in countries that included 

Liberia, Turkey, the Greenland ice cap, Venzuela, Aleutian Islands, 

Colombia and he participated in the building of the capital city 

Brazilia, Brazil. He then worked for Reserve Mining Company in Babbitt 

as a mechanic where he retired in 1975. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, 

gardening and having coffee with his friends and relatives.

  He and his wife, Elsie, moved to Layton, UT in 2001 to live with their 

daughter, Virginia. Later he would appreciate the personal care provided 

by Rocky Mountain Hospice.

  He is survived by two daughters, Virginia Malisheske of Layton, UT and 

Mary Beth Orr of Albuquerque, NM; two sisters, Dorothy Katke and Lorraine 

Frerich of Milaca, MN; one brother Willard (Alta) Malisheske of Sartell, 

MN; three grandchildren, Christina and Joseph Mallen of Minneapolis and 

Darrell (Sherry) Mallen of Jackson, WY; and his cockatiels, Tweetie and 

Twinkie.

  He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Antonia "Elsie;" his 

son, Gerald; and two brothers, Daniel and Hillary.

  A Memorial Mass was held on Saturday, Feb. 2 in Layton UT. Interment 

will take place at the Ely Cemetery at a later date.
