Jennie U. Kovall, 90, of Ely dies



  Jennie U. Kovall, 90, of Ely passed away following a long illness Thurs., 

Feb. 24, 2005 at Virginia Regional Medical Center. 

  She was born on July 3, 1914 to John and Jennie Skerjanc in Ely. Jennie 

worked as a housekeeper in Cleveland for many years and did secretarial 

work for the City of Ely. On November 27, 1943 she married Albert F. 

Kovall and in 1950 they established Kovall Construction Co. Jennie 

enjoyed skating, fishing and bingo. 

  She is survived by a daughter: Jeanne (Ray) Hanninen; a son: Albert 

(Shari) Kovall; four grandchildren: Mark (Mandy) Hanninen, Dean Hanninen, 

Kevin Kovall and Kim (Kent) Netzer; two step-grandchildren: Maureen and 

Patrick McNama-ra; six great-grandchildren: Erik, Joshua, Kylee, Kaitlin, 

Drayke and Dakota; four sisters: Ann (Stan) Prijatel of Ely, Dorothy 

(Alan) Harri of Duluth, Rose (Warren) Burns of CA, and Mollie (Hap) 

Palmer of CA; several nieces and nephews. 

  Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, on August 27, 1997; 

her mother, Jennie Skerjanc, on April 11, 1979; her father, John, in 

1945; a sister, Frances in 1969; and brothers, Joe in 1992 and Frank in 

1990. 

  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM on Thursday, March 3, 2005, at 

St Anthony's Catholic Church in Ely. Father Scheuer will officiate. A 

spring burial will take place at the Ely Cemetery.
