John J. Kordich of St. Cloud, MN and formerly of Ely passed away



John J. Kordich of St. Cloud, MN and formerly of Ely, passed away 

Thursday, October 7, 2004 at the Veterans Medical Center in St. Cloud. 

Graveside services will be held Monday, October 11, 2004 at 2 p.m. at 

Evergreen Cemetery in Browerville, MN. Friends may call from 10 a.m. - 1 

p.m. Monday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls.



John Joseph Kordich was born September 14, 1914 in Aurora, MN to the late 

Peter and Martha (Popovich) Kordich. He grew up in Ely where he attended 

school. Following his schooling, John entered the United States Army and 

served during WWII. Returning from the military, he joined the police 

force in Ely. He later and for many years worked for Reserve Mining 

Company retiring in 1976. Following his retirement John lived in Ely until 

1994 when he became a resident of the Veterans Medical Center in St. Cloud 

where he resided until his death.



He is survivied by sons and daughters, Phillip Kordich (Jackie) of 

Norfolk, VA, Daniel Kordich (Brenda) of Panama City, FL, Barbara Gfeller 

of Rochester, MN, Anna Kordich of Little Falls, MN; sister Olga Kennon 

(Ken) of Chula Vista, CA; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and 

former wife, Jean Osfalg of St. Cloud, MN. He was preceded in death by his 

parents; sons, Jonathan Kordich in 1994 and John J. Kordich, Jr. in 1964; 

brother, Nick Kordich; sisters, Ann Kordich, Martha Lowe and Mary Kordich 

and one grandchild.
