FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Ely Echo [www.elyecho.com] Submitted: October 2004 ========================================================================= Former Embarrass resident, Lili Maria Isaacson, 96, of Aurora, dies Lili Maria Isaacson, 96, of Aurora, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at White Community Nursing Home in Aurora. She was born Nov. 2, 1907, in Biwabik, to Erick and Lizzie Maki. She grew up and attended the Biwabik Schools. On Dec. 25, 1925, she married Theodore Isaacson of Embarrass. She assisted the St. Louis County nurse on her rounds in the community and later acted as a midwife. She was a member of the Northwoods Senior Citizen's Club, serving in several offices of that group. In 1950, they moved to Virginia, where she worked at the former Sapera's Style Shop for eight years. She was a member of the Virginia Senior Citizen's and an original member of the Little Gallery Art League. In 1958 they returned to Embarrass, where she became the secretary at School 70 and worked there for twelve years, retiring in 1970 when the school was consolidated with Babbitt. The next eight winters were spent in Arizona. While there, she became involved in china painting, which was her latest hobby. In 1982, they decided to move back to Virginia. She was a longtime member of the Ladies of Kaleva, Iron Train Writers, St. Louis County School Retirees, and belonged to the Mary Circle of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church. Lili is survived by her sisters, Helen Milos of Biwabik, Elizabeth (Jack) Klobuchar of Virginia, and Gladyce M. Lampe of Bass Lake; two daughters- in-law; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; seven great-great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand- nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theodore, in 1989; sons, T. Eugene Isaacson in 1973 and Ronald E. Issacson in 1992; three great-grandsons; sister, Sylvia Peterson; and brother, Emil Maki.
