Sharon “Sherry” L. Hougas, 59, of Ely died Tuesday, June 22, 2004 after an 
exhausting battle with cancer. She was a former resident of the Remer and 
Grand Rapids areas. Sherry had graduated from Itasca Community College with 
an Associate Degree in Human Services. Sherry was a dedicated mother, 
grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an invaluable teacher to her 
family and will be missed very much.

She is survived by three children: Mark, Michelle, and Bryon (Janet); four 
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 
husband Virgil R. Hougas.

Private family services were held on Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at sunset. 
Family Services were provided by Kerntz Brothers, A Bauman Family Funeral 
Home in Ely.
