Alison Marie Folz, 18, of Ely dies



  Alison Marie Folz, 18, of Ely passed away on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007 at her 

college residence in St. Paul. 

  She was born on February 17, 1988 in Ely, the daughter of Jon D. Jr. and 

Anne M. (Erzar) Folz. Alison graduated from Ely High School Class of 

2006. She was attending Scot Lewis Beauty School in St. Paul. 

  Alison was born with four major congenital heart defects and survived 

many surgeries. She was a true role model despite her medical problems. 

She enjoyed life, even though she faced adversity and proudly showed off 

her scars. 

  Alison was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and served as an 

altar server for most of her life. She was a basketball and hockey 

cheerleader. She loved to play golf both in high school and with her 

uncle Dan. Alison loved to quilt. She loved to play cards especially 

Pounce and Cribbage. Alison enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. 

She will be missed by everyone. 

  She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Carol Folz; her 

maternal grandparents William J. and Ruth Erzar and her uncle Dan Erzar. 

  She is survived by her mother, Anne M. Folz; father, Jon D. Folz Jr.; 

sister, Jennifer A. Folz all of Ely; paternal grandfather, Jon Folz Sr. 

of Panama City Beach, FL; her best friend, Bethany Rhein of Coon Rapids; 

aunts and uncles, Bill and Debbie Erzar, Jim and Connie Erzar, Susan 

Erzar, Becky and George Ewinski, Barb Folz, Ginny and Brian Anderson, 

Joan and Pete Weckman, Carrie and Efren Cazares, Jamie and Gary Peura and 

Kathleen Lynch; 18 cousins; many other relatives and friends. 

  Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, Feb. 9, 2007 at St. 

Anthony's Catholic Church in Ely. Father James Scheuer officated. 

Interment will be in the Ely Cemetery in the spring. 

  Alison's family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Rollie and nurse Shirley 

Sayovitz from the Ely Clinic and Dr. Gregory B. Wright and nurses Susan 

Stromwell and Lona Babekuhl at the Children's Heart Clinic and Hospitals 

in Minneapolis along with all their other staff. 

  Family services by Kerntz Brothers, A Bauman Family Funeral Home in Ely.
