Mary Ann Flake, 85 of Ely died March 20, 2004 in Ely. She was born in 
Ely on August 14, 1918 to John and Katherine (Rebernick) Jerich. She 
attended Ely High School. 
She married Joseph F. Flake on May 14, 1947 and spent over 56 wonderful 
years with him, all in Ely. She was a member of St. Anthony‚s Catholic 
Church, Slovenian Women, the VFW Auxiliary and KSKJ Lodge. 
She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and 
most of all, spending time with her four grandsons. 
Mary is survived by her husband: Joseph; son: Joseph Flake, M.D. (Jane) 
of North Oaks, MN; grandchildren: Thomas, Timothy, James and Joseph; 
sister: Katherine Hutar of Ely and many nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers John and Frank 
Jerich and a sister: Amelia “Milly” Skradski. 
Memorial Services were held Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at St. Anthony’s
Catholic Church. Father James Scheuer officiated. Family services 
provided by Kerntz Brothers, A Bauman Family Funeral Home in Ely.
