Owen Fenske, 87 of Ely dies



  Owen Fenske, 87 of Ely passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2006 at the 

Ely Bloomenson Community Nursing Home. 

  He was born on March 29, 1918 the son of Fred W.A. and Hilia (Laager) 

Fenske in McAllen, TX. Owen served with the U.S. Army Infantry in WWII 

and was a member of VFW Post #2717. He worked many odd jobs in the Ely 

area including road construction. Owen lived with his significant other, 

Mabel Thompson, for forty years until her passing on May 18, 1992. 

  He is survived by Mabel's children: Nellie Robich of Ely and Charles 

"Chuck" (Mary) Thompson of Elko, NV; sister-in-law: Fannie Fenske of Ely; 

several nieces and nephews.

  Owen was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Howard; sister Lola 

Burns Hager and Mabel's daughter Alice Hoover.

  Memorial services will be held on March 3, 2006 at 11:00 am at Kerntz 

Brothers Funeral Chapel in Ely. Pastor Bill Fossum will officiate.
