Joanne M. Criswell, 70, of Ely dies


Joanne M. Criswell, 70, of Ely died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Ely-
Bloomenson Hospital. 

She was born Aug. 18, 1934, in Ely to Joseph and An (Amitrano) Debeltz. 
She attended Ely Memorial High School and was married to Cecil Criswell 
in Ely in 1952. Following her marriage she moved to Chicago, where she 
lived and worked for the next 38 years. She then moved to Babbitt until 
her husband's death, and then returned home to Ely, where she enjoyed her 
family and friends until the time of her death. 

Joanne was a wonderful sister and will be greatly missed by her many 
friends, especially her best friend "Benji.'' She was a member of St. 
Anthony's Catholic Church and the Ely Moose Ladies Auxiliary 1580. 

She is survived by four brothers, John (Cheryl) Debeltz and Jerome (Mary) 
Debeltz, both of Ely, Jonathan (Cheryl) Debeltz of Green River, Wyo., and 
Jerry Debeltz of St. Cloud, Fla.; a sister, Jean (Don) Hasselblad, of 
Elko, Nev.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; Cecil, her husband of almost 40 
years; brothers Joseph I, Jack, James and Joseph II; and a sister, Julia. 

Memorial services for Joanne will be held in Ely in the spring.
