David Lloyd Brude, 68, dies





David Lloyd Brude, 68, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2007 at Ely 

Bloomenson Community Hospital, surrounded by his family. 



He was born to Roger and Ina (Berg) Brude on August 4, 1938 in Chicago, 

IL. He graduated from Washburn High School in Minneapolis in 1956. He 

served in the U.S. Army. 



He married Carol Brude on October 5, 1980 and together they cared for 

Dave's sons: Mike, Joe and Mark while living in Minneapolis. 



Dave and Carol moved to Ely to build a home "on top of the rock" at Moose 

Lake in 1982. In 1984 the couple moved to Soldotna, AK where Dave was the 

contractor and supervisor for swimming pools being built throughout the 

state in schools and hotels. Dave retired in 2005 and the couple returned 

to Ely. 



His first love was Ely, Moose Lake and the Boundary Waters which he first 

came to as a Boy Scout at age 13. 



He is survived by his wife Carol, sons Mike (Kathy), Mark (Lori), Joe and 

his children Anna and Michael and their mother Kathy; step-grandchildren 

Ronny, Chris, Christina, Alyssa and Marissa, and a great-granddaughter 

Arianna; three sisters: Marilyn, Kathy and Lori and a brother John. 



Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Janet. 



At Dave's request he was cremated. A memorial service was held Tuesday, 

March 13, 2007 at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Bill Fossom presiding. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family or the American 

Cancer Society.
