Mary Ann Boitz, 82, of Ely dies



  Mary Ann Boitz, 82, of Ely died Tuesday, March 15 at the Clayridge 

Assisted Living Facility in Biwabik. She was born July 10, 1922 in Ely 

to Anton and Justina (Rutar) Struna. 

  Mary Ann was a member of the Ely Bloomenson Hospital Auxiliary, St. 

Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Church Circle. She enjoyed gardening, 

baking, sewing, traveling and most of all time spent with her 

grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

  Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, William; 

her children: Bill (Diane) of South St. Paul, Nancy (Lyle) Alexson 

of Ely and James of Biwabik; grandchildren: Tammy (Jason) Bouchard,

Marie (Jim) Rude, Michele (Bruce) Haag, Nichole Boitz, Melissa (Scott) 

Magnuson; great-grandchildren: Payton, Dylan, Justyne, Logan, Hannah, 

Noah, Emma, Olivia, Sophia and Lydia; brother: Joe (Lois) Struna of 

Ely; sisters: Molly Lohse of Alexandria and Tina (George) Bahem of 

New York; many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives. 

  She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Anton, twin 

sister Christine and Ann. 

  A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, March 19 at Kerntz Brothers 

Funeral Chapel. Deacon Greg Hutar officiated. Memorials are preferred 

to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation or donor’s choice.
