Leonard Charles "Len" Bielawski, 58, of Ely, dies



  Leonard Charles "Len" Bielawski, 58, of Ely, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007 

in his home. 

  He was born Aug. 10, 1948 in Chicago, IL, the son of Henry and Mary 

Bielawski and served in the US Air Force as a Russian linguist. 

  Len moved to Ely in the late 1970s and on April 6, 1995 married Kimberly 

Renner. He worked as a carpenter and log builder. He was a member of the 

Ely Nordic Association, loved fishing, hunting, organic gardening, 

canoeing and cross country skiing. 

  He is survived by his wife: Kimberly; children: Ellen Bielawski of 

Minneapolis and Robert "Rob" Bielawski of Virginia Beach, VA; mother-in-

law: Winnie Renner of Ely; sister-in-law: Linnea Renner of Ely; and 

numerous nieces and nephews. 

  He was preceded in death by his parents. 

  A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17 in the 

Kerntz Funeral Home Chapel in Ely. Pastor Bill Fossum will officiate. 

  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family or one of the 

following organizations: Northwoods Hospice Respite Partners, St. Mary's 

East Range Hospice or the Kizer Fund. 

  Family services provided by Kerntz Brothers, A Bauman Family Funeral Home 

in Ely.
