O. H. DAHLEN (Oscar H. Dahlen) - Vol II, pg 565-566
Well known in the printing circles of the United States is O. H. Dahlen,
president of the O. H. Dahlen Printing Company. A native of Minneapolis, his
birth occurred on the 21st of December, 1885, a son of John and Margaret
(Anderson) Dahlen, botn natives of Sweden. John Dahlen came to America in 1877
and located in Minneapolis. He was a railroad man for the greater part of his
life and achieved substantial success in that connection.
O. H. Dahlen received his academic education in the grade schools of this city
and in due time was graduated from the South high school. Upon putting his
textbooks aside he secured a Job in the printing office of the Tribune and was
in that employ most of the time until he started in business on his own account.
He established his present business in 1903, and in 1914 it was incorporated
under the name of the O. H. Dahlen Printing Company. He has always been
president of the concern and his executive ability and keen business foresight
and sagacity have been prime factors in its continued success. The company does
all kinds of printing, specializing in trade catalogues, and its patronage
includes companies, firms and individuals throughout the United States. The
offices of the company are located at No. 41 Western avenue.
On the 21st of June, 1906, Mr. Dahlen was united in marriage to Miss Helen M.
Newsam and to their union two sons have been born: Marshall H. and Thomas R. The
elder son is seventeen and the younger is eleven years of age. Since attaining
his majority Mr. Dahlen has given his stanch support to the republican party and
the principles for which it stands. Fraternally he is identified with the Masons
and he has attained the thirty-second degree of the Scottish Rite. He is also a
member of Khurum Lodge, F. & A. M., Minneapolis Consistory, Zuhrah Temple of the
Mystic Shrine, and is connected with the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks.
Socially he is identified with the Odin Club and the Travelers Club. Mr. Dahlen
has gained a reputation for straightforward business dealings and civic loyalty
and no man in this city is more highly esteemed for his integrity and sterling
worth.
