LESTER R. BADGER - Vol II, pg 128-131
Lester R. Badger, vice president of the Walter L. Badger Company, is one of the
well known and reliable real estate men in this city. He was born in Minneapolis
on the 1st of May, 1892, a son of Walter L. and Anna (Dawson) Badger, of whom
extended mention is made on another page of this work.
Lester R. Badger received his early education in the schools here and after two
years of high school entered a preparatory school in the east, where he was a
student two years. Subsequently he enrolled in Williams College and was
graduated from that institution with the B. A. degree in 1916. He then entered
the real estate business with his father and has continued in that line of
business. He is now vice president of the Walter L. Badger Company, which
concern handles real estate, rentals, loans, etc., and is one of the
representative institutions of its kind in the city and throughout the state.
Mr. Badger's business career was interrupted by the entrance of the United
States into the World war, for in 1917 he put all personal interests aside and
enlisted in the army. He entered the Officers Training Camp at Fort Snelling and
was soon commissioned a second lieutenant. Subsequently he was ordered to
Newport News and he embarked for France in March, 1918. He was assigned to the
Motor Transport Corps, the duty of which was to haul munitions to the front, and
in 1918 he was promoted to a captaincy. After the signing of the armistice
closed hostilities he was returned to the United States and was mustered out at
Camp Dodge, in July, 1919.
On the 21st of August, 1917, was celebrated the marriage of Mr. Badger to Miss
Helen Sammis of Minneapolis, and to their union one daughter, Barbara, has been
born. Both Mr. and Mrs. Badger are consistent members of the Plymouth
Congregational church. Since attaining his majority Mr. Badger has given his
stanch support to the republican party. While a student at Williams College he
became affiliated with the Kappa Alpha fraternity and socially he is identified
with the Minneapolis Athletic Club and the Minneapolis Golf Club. He is an
active member of the American Legion.
