In Collision
    John G. Carruth, Manufactrurer and banker, and a member of the Union League 
and Manufacturer's Club, narrowly escaped death yesterday, when the automobile 
in which he was riding was struck by a trolley car at Mascher and Jefferson 
Streets.  Mr. Carruth and his chauffeur wer pinned beneath the wreck of the 
automobile, which was crushed and hurled to the sidewalk.  Mr. Carruth and his 
chauffeur refused to go to a hospital and went to their homes in another 
automobile.  Mr. Carruth is 60 years old and lives at the Bellevue-Stratford.

    Mrs. Daniel Ryan, of 5908 Market Street, suffered contusions and 
laceerations of the head, and her husband and George S. Earnshaw, of Ardmore, 
suffered minor injuries when the automobiles Ryan and Earnshaw were driving 
skidded at 61st and Arch Streets yesterday.  Both automobiles were smashed and 
an ireon lamp post and a hitching post which they struck after the collision 
were demolished.

Killed by Fall Down Shaft
    Frank Mulvaney, 28 years old, of 5023 Hoffman Street, as killed yesterday 
morning when he fell from the third floor to the basement while working on a 
building operation at 1423 Chestnut Street.  Mulvaney was employed by William R. 
Dougherty, 1508 Sansom Street, who had the contract for the building.  He was at 
work on the third floor when he made a misstep and fell down the elevator shaft.
(NOTE: from transcriber - correct age at time of death was 31 years, 6 
months and 11 days and he did not live on Hoffman Street. - family
relative)

Found Dead in Gas-filled House
    Joseph Decker, 58 years old, 2805 North Fifth Street, was found dead in
bed last night asphyxiated by gas.  Harry Eckroyd, a boarder, on returning from 
work at 6 o'clock, found the house filled with gas and Decker on the bed dead.  
Decker it is said, has been in poor health recently.

Battleship Out of the Mud
    The battleship Missouri was floated from a mudbank in the mouth of the back 
channel at the Navy Yard yesterday, where the vessel had run aground while the 
22 ships at the yard were being moved Thursday afternoon.  The Missouri was 
aground all noght, but was easily removed by tugs.
(NOTE: this is not the "Mighty Mo" battleship of WW2 but an earlier ship by
the same name.)

MRS. LAURA B. KISTLER
STROUDSBURG, PA, March 21 - "Love one another" spoke Mrs Laura Baltz Kistler, 54 
years old, at an Eastern Star lecture, and then suddenly was stricken with 
apoplexy and died.  Deceased was the wife of ex-Chief Burgess H. W. Kistler.  
Mrs Kistler was delivering her lecture on the occasion of the appearance of Mrs. 
Louella Jackson, of Pittsburgh, Grand Matron of the order.

REV. WILLIAM PINNER
The Rev. William Pinner, a local preacher of the Methodist Episcopal Church, 
died on Friday night at his residence, 2737 Cleveland Avenue, East Camden, of 
apoplexy.  He was 64 years old.  He was president of the Fairfiew Camp Meeting 
Association.  The funeral will take place on Tuesday.

WILTON LOCKWOOD
    BOSTON - March 21 - Wilton Lockwood, portrait painter, is dead here at the 
age of 53 years.  He achieved note in folk studies and flower pieces. Among his 
best known portraits wer those of Grover Cleveland, John La Farge and Justice 
Oliver Wendall Holmes.

HENRY G. NEWTON
NEW HAVEN, Conn., March 21 - Henry G. Newton, Federal referee in bankruptcy, 
died today of heart disease.  He was personal counsel for William Jennings Bryan 
in the famous Philo Bennett will case.

MRS. JOHN H. FUNK, 83 years old, of Central Manor, PA, fell dead yesterday while 
visiting her daughter in the same town.  She was a resident of Lancaster County 
all her life.

MRS. SUSANNAH V. NOLT, 81 years old, following a general bread-down in health, 
at  her home, Voganville, Lancaster County.  For 60 years she was a member of 
the Mennonite Church.

MRS. ELIZABETH B. CARTER,  wife of William H. Carter, at her home, Turnerville, 
NJ.  She was one of the leading workers of the Methodist Episcopal Church and 
honored for her work among the sick in that vicinity.

LAWSON, On March  19, 1914, ANNIE, widow of John Lawson.  Funeral will be held 
on Tuesday, at 8 A.M. from her son-in-law's residence, William J. Hayes, 139
